On Friday trading in all major feeding regions is light on light demand. Not enough sales in any regions for an adequate market trend. Boxed Beef cutout values were sharply lower on Choice and lower on Select on light to moderate demand and offerings. Choice closed 2.74 lower at 198.81. Select closed .17 lower at 193.22. The Choice-Select spread 5.59 and is based on 104 total loads.
The hide and offal from a typical slaughter steer for today was estimated at 11.77 per cwt live, down 0.01 when compared to Wednesday’s value. The cattle slaughter under federal inspection for Friday is estimated at 114,000 and Saturday is estimated at 69,000.
