On Wednesday afternoon trade was active on good demand in the Southern and Northern Plains. In Texas early live sales have sold at 110.00 up to 112.00 late in the trading period. In Kansas, compared to last week live sales sold 2.00 to 3.00 higher from 110.00-112.00. In Nebraska, compared to last week lives sales sold 2.00 to 3.50 higher with sales from 110.00-113.50. Dressed sales in Nebraska sold steady to 5.00 higher from 170.00-175.00. In Colorado, compared to last week, live sales sold 2.00 to 3.00 higher from 112.00-113.00. A few live sales in Iowa have sold at 110.00 and a few dressed sales sold at 173.00 on good buyer inquiry.
Boxed beef cutout values higher on moderate to fairly good demand and moderate offerings. Choice closed 1.42 higher at 186.67 and Select closed .95 higher at 170.12. The hide and offal value from a typical slaughter steer for today was estimated at 11.80 per cwt live, down .01 when compared to Tuesday’s Value.
Cattle Slaughter under federal inspection for Wednesday is estimated at 115,000.
