Trade is light on light demand in Kansas with live sales 3.00 lower than last week at 140.00. In Nebraska trade is light to moderate on light demand. Live sales have sold from 139.00-140.00 with dressed sales from 217.00-219.00, mostly 219.00. In Colorado a few live sales have sold from 140.00-142.00. In Iowa live sales have sold from 137.00-139.00 with dressed sales from 218.00-219.00. Trade remains inactive on light demand in the Texas Panhandle. Friday afternoon boxed beef cutout values were lower to sharply lower on moderate demand and heavy offerings. Choice was down 2.97 at 236.09 with Select down 1.37 to close 226.73 on 197 loads. The hide and offal value from a typical slaughter steer for today was estimated at 12.30 per cwt live, down -0.20 when compared to Thursday’s value. The estimated cattle slaughter on Friday was 114,000, with 43,000 on Saturday with a week to date estimate of 501,000.
