Before You Install
Today’s Rancher Desktop V1 requires a 64-bit PC running Windows 10 or Windows 11.

1. Download Today’s Rancher
After purchasing, click the download link in your receipt or purchase confirmation. The installer is named TodaysRancherSetupV1.exe.

2. Run the Installer
Open your Downloads folder and double-click TodaysRancherSetupV1.exe.

3. Windows May Ask for Permission
Depending on Windows security settings, Windows may display a security or SmartScreen message before running a newly downloaded application. We should document the exact screens and buttons we actually encounter, rather than guessing at Microsoft’s wording.

4. Follow the Setup Wizard
Accept the installation location/defaults and allow setup to complete.

5. Start Today’s Rancher
Launch Today’s Rancher Desktop. Kate appears briefly while the program starts, and then the Main Menu opens.

6. Set Up Your Ranch
On first use, enter your Ranch Information. Once that’s saved, you’re ready to begin entering livestock records.

7. Make Your First Backup
After you’ve entered your initial ranch and livestock information, use System Utilities → Backup and save the backup somewhere safe.
